DIRECTDERMACARE PROJECT

DirectDermaCare: different products, clear ways to shop.

DirectDermaCare is a business Brett Apter builds and operates. Its Shopify store brings together its own skincare collection, compression garments, scar care and eye care. Shoppers can use a guided skincare routine finder, browse categories or search for a particular garment style, with product information and buying guidance along the way.

01

One store, several customer needs

Someone exploring moisturizers has a different question from someone looking for a garment recommended by a surgical practice. The current homepage leads with skincare while retaining visible routes to compression and other categories. Navigation separates product categories, brands and shopping help. This structure allows the store to present its own collection without requiring every customer to follow the same discovery process.

02

Guide shoppers who need a starting point

The skincare routine finder asks about the number of steps a shopper wants, how their skin feels, preferred texture and fragrance preferences. Its interface lets shoppers choose a simple routine or include an additional step, then select the products they want. The page explains the purpose of the guidance and provides access to ingredients, directions and the full skincare collection.

  • Questions about everyday skincare preferences.
  • Product selection that can be adjusted before adding items to a cart.
  • A direct browsing route for people who prefer to compare products themselves.
03

Help shoppers who already know what they need

Shoppers looking for compression garments can browse by coverage or brand, or search by product name or style code. The sizing guide explains why they should use the chart for their chosen brand and style, and what information to include when asking for help.

  • Categories organized by the area of the body a garment covers.
  • Style-code search for shoppers with a specific product in mind.
  • Information on sizing and how to ask a product question.
04

Explain subscription options

Eligible skincare products offer a subscription option. The subscription information page explains the available delivery intervals, recurring charges and account-management options, while distinguishing subscriptions from one-time purchases. It also separates the order schedule from shipping time. This gives shoppers the information they need to choose between a subscription and a one-time purchase.

05

Connect product pages with useful guidance

The store includes skincare guides, recovery guides, delivery information and return conditions. These pages answer different questions at different stages of shopping. Keeping category, product and help content connected is an ongoing responsibility: a change to a product option, delivery estimate or subscription arrangement may also require an update to the surrounding guidance.

Useful principles for your own store

Begin with the shopper’s question. A single catalog can support exploratory browsing, guided selection and precise product lookup when those routes are clearly identified.

  • Give experienced shoppers a direct route to the product they need.
  • Let shoppers adjust the products recommended to them.
  • Treat sizing, delivery and subscription explanations as part of product presentation.
